Gabriela Ruse (158 WTA) failed to pass the first round of the “WTA 1000” tournament in Madrid, losing to French Alize Cornet 6(6)-7, 6-4, 6-3.

After qualifying for the WTA Madrid main draw, Ruse failed to qualify for the second round.

Although she started the first set very well, the Romanian was tied at the end, but won the tie-break after 8-6.

Ruse also controlled the second set, but Corne made a good comeback at the end to take the match into the third set.

In the decisive match, the Frenchwoman took control of the score 2:0 in favor of the Russians, and by the end she lost only one game to the player from Romania.

The game lasted two hours and 53 minutes.

In the qualifiers, Gabriela Rousse beat the Belgian Isalin Bonaventure (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) and the French Leolia Jeanjean (6-4, 6-3).

For being in the first round, Ruse will receive a check for 16,340 euros and 10 points in the WTA singles ranking.
