Frank Lampard has officially become the manager who will replace Graham Potter on the bench. Chelsea.

The London club today announced the appointment of the experienced midfielder and flag bearer for the Blues as an interim manager who will lead the team until the end of the season.

It is worth noting that the 44-year-old is returning to Stamford Bridge after taking over the reins for the Londoners for the first time in the summer of 2019, but was sacked on 25 January 2021 after technically managing the team for just 84 games. During that time, he led Chelsea to the 2019/20 FA Cup Final, where the Blues lost 2-1 to Arsenal.

In Lampard’s appointment announcement, Chelsea co-owners Todd Boly and Behdad Egbali said: “We are delighted to welcome Frank back to Stamford Bridge. Frank is a Premier League Hall of Famer and a club legend. As we continue our full and exhaustive search for a permanent manager, we want to provide the club and our supporters with a clear and solid plan for the rest of the season. We want to give ourselves every chance to succeed and Frank has all the qualities and assets we need to take us to the finish line. On Saturday we have an important game against Wolverhampton and then we will focus on the Champions League quarter-final next week in Madrid. We will all give Frank our full support as we strive to get the best result in all remaining games.”
