Aristovoulos Petmezas was born in 1845 and showed an interest in sports from an early age, especially athletics and gymnastics. His studies in law school and his social associations solidified his love of the sport, and according to sources he was a member of the Panah Association from at least the early 1890s.

Aristovoulos Petmezas entered the political arena after the death of his father during the electoral round and was elected member of parliament for Kalavriton. His first elections were in 1908, followed by elections in 1910, 1912 and 1915 as an MP for Achaia and Ilidos.
