Mikaela Shiffrin won the giant slalom in Are, Sweden, on Friday, making her equal to Ingemar Stenmark’s record of 86 victories in the Alpine skiing World Cup.

Mikaela Shiffrin equaled Ingemar Stenmark: 86 victories at the Alpine Skiing World Cup

On the slopes of Are in Sweden, the American overtook Federica Brignone (+0”64) and Sarah Hector (+0”92), thus winning the 86th victory in the Alpine World Cup.

The feat in Sweden is all the more special as it equaled home favorite Ingemar Stenmark’s 34-year-old record.

Until Friday, Stenmark held the record for the number of victories in the Alpine Skiing World Cup – 86. The fantastic result was achieved by the Swede between 1974 and 1989.

In 11 years (2012-2023), Mikaela Shiffrin managed to match Stenmark.
