Champions League: Bayern showed who’s boss

Bayern again triumphed over Paris Saint-Germain to secure their place in the Champions League quarter-finals, while the French, on the other hand, survived another early elimination. The Bavarians won 2-0 in the second game between themselves for the “16” competition and with a total score of 3-0 got a ticket to the next stage. Paris S.Z. entered the game better and in the 31st minute they missed the most important moment in the game, when Vitinia, after Sommer’s mistake, headed into the empty net, but De Ligt knocked out with a tackle on the line.

Bayern first withstood the pressure, then imposed their pace and forced the Paris SZ players to make many mistakes effortlessly. In one of them, in the 61st minute, Verratti lost the ball in his team’s penalty area, and Zuppo Moting, who was the last recipient, easily made it 1-0 into an empty net. Paris S.Z. looked to equalise, missed out on important moments, but instead of making it 1–1, he ended 2–0 with Gnabry in the match’s last gasp.

Milan defended 1-0 in the first leg and, remaining 0-0 in London against Tottenham, moved to 8.

They beat Paris 2-0 and qualified for the quarter-finals, as did AC Milan (0-0 with Tottenham).

Borussia Dortmund’s frenzy (until 2023) came to a halt at Stamford Bridge, but with much murmuring to the Westphalian side, in a 2-0 win for Chelsea that handed the English team a spot in the last eight Champions League matches – total only a small payoff for the heavy investment in new animation material in recent months. Dortmund, who won 1-0 in the first leg, are calling for a penalty kick by Havertz to score the decisive goal in the 53rd minute, 10 minutes after Sterling opened the scoring. The Germans complain that while Havertz converted the penalty after finding the post, the referee ordered a replay because players from both teams entered the box prematurely.

“We lost because of refereeing. We played well and deserved to qualify, but the referee awarded a penalty twice for no reason,” said Borussia midfielder Emre Can.

After losing to Benfica (5:1), Club Brugge decided to sack Scott Parker and are therefore in search of a coach.
