Manchester United, who have been in good form of late which also saw Barcelona relegated from the Europa League, settled the match in the first half at Wembley.
Erik ten Hag’s men opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after Casemiro headed in Shaw’s cross from a free-kick.
Six minutes later it was 2-0 when Rashford delivered a corner which Bothman deflected into his own net.
The Devils will win their first trophy after a 6-year hiatus, adding a sixth League Cup to their record.
This is Newcastle’s second final loss since 1976.
