The 22-year-old athlete from Batavia won with a result of 49.26, improving by 33 hundredths the time shown by the Czech Jarmila Kratokhvilova on March 7, 1982, AFP informs.

“Thanks to all the fans present here, we were able to break this record. I have never seen so many people here. When I crossed the finish line, I realized I had broken the record because of the noise of the crowd” – Femke Bol.

Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist in the 400m hurdles, Femke Bol, also won silver in the same distance at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, where she won a medal of the same metal in the 4x400m medley relay.

The Dutchwoman achieved an unprecedented treble at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in August 2022, where she won the 400m and 400m hurdles, as well as winning the 4x400m relay with her compatriots.

Femke Bol already shone a week ago at the closed competitions in Metz (France), passing less than 50 seconds for 400 m (49 s 96/100), writes Agerpres.
