Romanian lugers won silver and bronze on Friday morning at the Nations Cup, a competition held on the world’s only natural Olympic slope, at St. Mortiz (Switzerland).
Silver for Tudor Štefan Handarić and Sebastian Mozka / Bronze for Valentin Kretsu
In the doubles, the crew is in the lineup Tudor Stefan Gandarich and Sebastian Motzka (CSO Sinaia) won a silver medal.
In luge sports among men, Valentin Kretsu (CSO Sinaia) took bronze after dominating the slopes of Wintenberg (Germany) last week.
“Slope from St. Moritz is the only naturally frozen slope. With over 125 years of tradition, this slope has only 2 concrete turns, the rest of the turns are built from ice every year using techniques passed down from generation to generation. This makes the slope different every season.
We managed to keep a good shape, the downhills in practice helped us to lock in the key points and today I managed to get on the podium again. I am very happy for my colleagues in the doubles, who managed to overcome their emotions and showed an excellent performance, winning the silver medal.
Tomorrow we start the World Cup, where we want to make consistent descents without mistakes, and then we can enjoy those results.
We thank everyone who participates in our activities and the fans at home who give us incredible energy.
Personally, I am very glad that the materials created over the last year are starting to work, we manage to adjust the sled well before the competition and thus find the necessary speed that helps us rise in the ranking” – Valentin Kretsuwinning a bronze medal.
