Manuel Neuer has ended his playing career with Bayern Munich, according to German media, after an inflammatory interview in which he criticized the club legend for the decision to sack the goalkeeping coach.

Manuel Neuer, whom everyone criticizes

The goalkeeper was injured after breaking his leg while skiing in mid-December and will miss at least six months, but the chances of his return to the goal of the German champions are diminishing, writes the Daily Mail.

After Bayern sacked goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic, the Germany international gave an interview to The Athletic in which he hit back at the club.

Chairman Oliver Kahn warned that “we will speak to him very seriously” about the publicized complaints, while legend Lothar Matthaus believes Neuer can no longer captain Bayern.

Last but not least, coach Nagelsmann said that the goalkeeper’s interview “doesn’t help calm the situation.”

According to the German media, Nagelsmann is the moral author of the dismissal of Tapalovic, whom he suspected of leaking information between employees, which then reached the dressing room through Manuel Neuer.

With Bayern set to sign Jann Sommer from Borussia Mönchengladbach and Alexander Nubel returning from a loan spell at Monaco in the summer, Neuer will be the team’s third-choice goalkeeper.
