The death toll from two strong earthquakes that struck southeastern Turkey on Monday has exceeded 1,121 dead and 7,634 injured, according to figures released by AFAD, Turkey’s disaster management agency.
According to him, 2,834 buildings collapsed, and there are fears that the number of victims will increase. Volkan Demirel (41 years old) did not hold back his emotions and with tears in his eyes sent a message asking for help. His wife Zeynep Sever Demirel (33), former volleyball player, Miss Belgium-2009, did the same.
“Hatai is in a catastrophic situation. Hospitals are destroyed! We are helpless. Please help me,” Zeynep Demirel wrote on social networks.
“There is only suffering here, many people have died. Please help us! Submit save! We can’t find loved ones. We cannot do much by ourselves. The situation is very bad, and not only in Hatay, but everywhere around. Please help us, for God’s sake,” said Volkan Demirel, sports director of Hatayspor.
