Hua Hin tournament favorite Andreescu prevailed in an hour and 31 minutes of play over the Russian, who is ranked 186th in the world, with a score of 6-2, 7-5.

Bianca (42 WTA) will beat Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk (60 WTA, seed #5) in the quarters, after Gabriela Ruse’s doubles partner overcame Nao Hibino (139 WTA) of Japan, 6-3, 7-6( 7).
