FRHG criticizes Sport Club Miercurea Čuuc – Deprived of fair play attitude towards the national hockey championship

“The Romanian Ice Hockey Federation expresses its concern regarding the lack of fair play, respect and attention of the club team to the national competitions in which it is registered, as well as to other participating teams.

Sport Club Miercurea Čuuc eschews national championship matches (although it is publicly funded through the Ministry of Sports), opting instead to compete in the Erste Liga, an ice hockey competition in which it competes alongside 7 club teams from Hungary. and 3 sports formations from Romania.

So, in the current season of the National Championship of Romania among seniors, a match between CSM Corona Brașov and SC Miercurea Ciuc was scheduled for January 28, 2023.

A day before the match, “Merkurya Chuk” announced that it will no longer appear in Saturday’s match due to injuries and illness of a number of players.

But on Sunday, January 29, 48 hours after the announcement, SC Miercurea Čuuc played a full squad in the Erste Liga against the FEHA19 team.

In accordance with the regulations of the National Junior Championship regarding the conditions for the postponement of an official match, a change in the date, time and/or place of its holding can be made with the agreement of the Federation, on the basis of a reasoned application and also accompanied by the consent of the team’s partners in the game, addressed to the Central Competition Commission at least three days before the original schedule. Failure to comply with these provisions results in forfeit of game/5-0 loss.

The Romanian Hockey Federation received a very late request, only 24 hours before the scheduled match in Brasov, from SC Miercurea Čuuc, citing the inability to participate due to “injuries and viruses”.

However, he was surprised by the amazing participation of the same team in the Eerste Liga less than 24 hours before the match in Romania, which he could not attend due to medical reasons.

Note that CSM Corona Brașov is also registered in the Erste League and although they played a match in this league against FEHA19 on January 27th, they showed up for a match scheduled in the Romanian National Championship on January 28th.

The Romanian Ice Hockey Federation expresses its disappointment and dismay at the behavior of Sport Club Miercurea Ciuc, hoping that this attitude is only a bad choice at the moment and not a rule by which it determines the priorities of its activities and its own goals”, the press release states FRGH sent to the editorial office of HotNews.ro.
