Patrick Muratoglu, confident in the potential of the Holger Rune

“It’s always disappointing to lose, especially when the ball lands on your court after hitting the net. We must congratulate Andriy Rublyov on an outstanding match and wish him to go far at the Australian Open.

I want to express my admiration for this young player, Holger Roon, for all the progress he has made. He is bold, full of enthusiasm and energy and will undoubtedly achieve great success in the future” – Patrick Muratogluquoted by Eurosport.

Holger Roon told Patrik Muratoglu to shut up during his match with Andriy Rublev

Roone, leading 5-2 in the deciding set, was caught by Rublev and told his boxing to shut up. The Dane explained his gesture at a press conference.

“Normally, I like to get advice from time to time. But not all the time. There I felt that it was not the time, I had to focus only on the field. At these moments, everything is played for a point or two. And the more I focus on the court, the more tennis I can play.

If I’m not 100% present on the pitch, it’s difficult. Especially in tense moments. I think it’s important to stay focused on the game plan and on the field. Without that, we can lose a point, two points, and that could be enough to lose the match.” Rune of Holger.
