​Caroline Garcia (fourth seed from Melbourne) reached the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open on Saturday. The Frenchwoman got past Laura Siegemund (1-6, 6-3, 6-3), the player who knocked out Iryna Bega in the previous round.

Siegemund (158 WTA) confidently won the first set, with a score of 6-1, but step by step Caroline managed to come back and count in the draws.

Garcia was more accurate on his serve, showed off his explosive forehand, and the second set came back to him with a score of 6-3.

The Frenchwoman was also more inspired in the decider and wrapped up the match after two hours and 11 minutes (1-6, 6-3, 6-3).
