Both respected their status as heavy favorites and prevailed without emotion in matches played in Melbourne on Tuesday.

Caroline Garcia beat Catherine Sebov (Canada – 190 WTA), score 6-3, 6-0. The game lasted only 65 minutes.

In the other match of the day, Aryna Sabalenko (5th seed) defeated Teresa Martincova (Czech Republic – 74 WTA) in two sets with a score of 6-1, 6-4. The match lasted 69 minutes.

Australian Open 2023 will be held from January 16 to 29. The champions of the title were Ashley Barty (now retired from sports) and Rafael Nadal.
