AEK Quartet in Panaitolikos

AEK had no problems against Panaitolikos in the “impregnable castle” of the OPAP Arena.

Matias Almeida’s team won 4-1 in the 18th Super League game.

Araújo (13′), Garcia (35′), Pineda (51′) and Amrabat (55′) scored the winning goals, while Pedro reduced the lead to 2-1 from a penalty kick in favor of the guests.

After a header from Pinedas (9′), which neutralized Anestis, AEK opened the scoring in the second visit to Panaitolikos. After a cross by Hadjisafi and a clearance, the ball ended up on Sergio Araujo’s left, who sent it into the left corner of Anestis in the 14th minute.

Gradually, AEK began to impose its rhythm and in the 34th minute reached the score 2:0 thanks to the classic impressive jump of Levia Garcia and a header from a cross by Hadjisafi.

Panaitolikos, unable to threaten, managed to get back into the game when Houhumi’s harmless free-kick shot into Rota’s hand.

Penalty ordered by the referee and duly taken by Pedro in the 40th minute as AEK only conceded a goal for the second time at the OPAP Arena after nine league and cup matches.

The hosts did not have time to get nervous, as at the beginning of the second half they regained a safe advantage. Again the goal started with an Amrabad cross from the right and Oberlin Pineda made it 3–1 with a header in the 51st minute.

Four minutes later, the Moroccan was named scorer when he took a pass from Levia Garcia and added a triumph to the Union’s victory with a running shot.

AEK then had the opportunity to score even more goals. Almeida made the usual rotation from the moment everything was decided, while Anastasio also made maintenance for the next much more decisive matches.
