Veronika Kudermetova (sixth seed) passed the qualification quarterfinals without playing: Kateryna Aleksandrova announced her withdrawal before the start of the match.
Beatrice Haddad Maia (11th seed) defeated Amanda Anisimov (a former student of Darren Cahill) in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. The game lasted almost two hours.
