Nick Kyrgios is one of the most controversial players on the ATP Tour, and the Aussie is offering a strange new hypothesis about his future in tennis.
Nick Kyrgios is considering retirement if he wins a Grand Slam
Nick Kyrgios is currently ranked 22nd in the ATP rankings and has had a pretty good 2022.
The Australian won the Washington Open tournament and added 3 doubles titles to his track record, one of which was even at the Australian Open.
Kyrgios also came close to his first Grand Slam title, but lost in the Wimbledon final to Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in 4 sets.
In a recent interview, Nick Kyrgios suggested that he would retire from tennis if he managed to win a Grand Slam. This can be done even at the first Grand Slam tournament of 2023, the Australian Open. If he manages to win the tournament, we may see him end his career at just 27 years old.
“I hope I can win a Slam and retire, just disappear. What if I continue? Honestly, I don’t know yet.
It’s taken a lot of hard work, a lot of discipline for you this year, and it seems like the better you do, the more everyone wants from you, and it becomes a lot more stressful. But I had a lot of fun this season.
And finally, I’m proud that I managed a Grand Slam final and started to live up to some expectations.
I had fun, I was happy and I felt better on and off the field.” said Nick Kyrgios
