Manchester United could be taken over by Amazon

Although the Spanish billionaire Amancio Ortega, David Beckham or the Apple company have been talked about as potential buyers, now the British press is announcing a new possible high-ranking investor.

Amazon has become the latest company interested in buying Manchester United, but the price demanded by the owners – about 7 billion pounds – is considered unrealistic by evaluators, writes the Daily Mail.

The online giant has already partnered with English football, owning the rights to broadcast the Premier League, and will also broadcast Champions League matches in the future.

Amazon representatives contacted by reporters declined to comment on rumors and speculation.

The Glazer family owned Manchester United for 17 years, paying around £790m to become the majority shareholder in 2005.

During this period, the club was far from its former glory and the news of the impending sale was met with enthusiasm by the fans.
