World Cup 2022: Croatia’s seven in the four

Never underestimate Croatia! Brazil did it and paid the price for it with a quarter-final exit from the World Cup in Qatar, even though they were favorites to win it.

The Croatians in yet another match proved too strong to die as they held Seleção 0-0 in the 90th minute, equalized 1-1 just before the end of extra time and finally the (again) heroic goalkeeper Livakovic scored victory with a score of 4. -2 in the penalty shootout (Rodrigo caught, and Marquinhos hit the crossbar), as they did in the match with Japan and received a ticket to the semi-finals.

From the start, Croatia created difficulties for Brazil as, despite their opponent’s initial enthusiasm, they managed to control the pace of the game and keep the Selesao stars out of their zone. At the same time, she took advantage of any gaps that appeared, creating her own good moments in the first half, however, which had few noteworthy phases.

The picture of the match did not change in the second half, as the Brazilians were chasing the gates, but lost to the excellent Livakovic, who held his team until the final. Thus, the Croatians played the match where they wanted, as it was the eighth of the last nine major tournaments in which extra time was used.

Petkovic kept the “Croat” in the match at 117′ – Livakovic beat Rodrigo with 11 steps.

It was here that the class of Neymar spoke first, who, thanks to the amazing creativity of the whole team and equally with his final goal, took the lead in the Selesao in the 105th minute. But the joy did not last long, as in the 117th minute, Petkovic, after an excellent counterattack by the Croats, returned the match to the level and the first of four quarter-finals on penalties. In this process, Croatia once again proved invincible, winning all four games played in Russian roulette.
