Karolina Pliskova, the former WTA top seed, announced on Tuesday that she has rehired Sasha Bazhyn, the German coach she split with in July, AFP reported.

Sasha Bain will train Karolina Pliskova again

At the age of 30, Pliskova has since trained under compatriot Leon Friedl, dropping to 31st in the WTA rankings without winning a tournament.

Before working with the Czech, Bajin (38 years old) helped the Japanese Naomi Osaka win two consecutive Grand Slam tournaments: US Open 2018 and Australian Open 2019.

Named WTA Coach of the Year 2018, Sasha Bajin has also worked with Serena Williams and Kristina Mladenovic.

Pliskova, who has 16 singles titles to her name, began working with Bazhin in November 2020, and the German helped her reach the Wimbledon final last year.

They ended their cooperation this summer after the Czech was eliminated in the second round of the British Grand Slam.

Karolina Pliskova has not won a Grand Slam title to date, and her last success in the women’s race dates back to January 2020, when she won the tournament in Brisbane (Australia), writes Agerpres.
