Striker Gabriel Jesus and defender Alex Telles were ruled out of the remainder of the tournament after suffering injuries in their last group stage match against Cameroon on Friday night.

As the country’s football federation announced today, the two players will no longer be able to strengthen the Selesao, as their injury problems cannot be solved immediately.

Telles was substituted in the 54th minute, and 10 minutes later, Jesus also left the field.

Neymar doubts against South Korea

Neymar’s participation in Qatar’s first World Cup playoff match against South Korea on Monday night at the 974 Stadium in Doha remains in doubt.

The Selesao star suffered a right ankle sprain in the opening match against Serbia and will start training with the ball from today, said national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar.

“As for Neymar and Alex Sandro (thigh injury), they have not yet started to work with the ball. It will take place on Saturday and it is important to observe their reaction. Depending on their situation, in the next two days we will see if they can help,” said Rodrigo Lasmar after the loss to Cameroon.

More optimistic is winger Danilo (sprained ligaments), about whom the team doctor said: “He has a very positive development.”
