
FIFA has decided to allow certain gestures of support for the protests taking place in Iran during the World Cup in Qatar.

As reported by AFP, FIFA will allow the use of banners with the words “Women, Life, Freedom” in arenas in Qatar.
In addition, fans will also be allowed to bring portraits of victims of the regime in Tehran to stadiums.
“FIFA allows messages that promote human rights and FIFA’s position is that the slogan ‘Women, Life, Freedom’ or the name and portraits of Mahsa Amini are allowed in stadiums.
In contrast, under FIFA’s rules on prohibited items for spectators, articles that contain political, offensive or discriminatory messages are prohibited. This also applies to unofficial flags of countries that can be seen as a political message,” AFP notes.
