Two goals in stoppage time saw Iran beat Wales 2-0 in the second round of Group B of the World Cup. Carlos Queiroz’s team showed a great game, not scoring a goal in the first half and taking advantage of their numerical advantage after Hennessy was sent off in the 86th minute.

Rob Page’s team tried to impose their pace early in the match. Characteristically, the hosts had their first big chance in the game in the 12th minute with Moore, but Hosseini saved from contact.

In the 15th minute, Carlos Queiroz’s team scored a goal. After a beautiful counterattack, Ali Golizade scored, but offside.

In the 18th minute, the Iranian goalkeeper blocked Wilson’s free-kick. In the 23rd minute, Azmun headed from a free kick, but the ball flew wide.

Wales had ten men left in the 86th minute after goalkeeper Hennessey showed a straight red card. Two minutes later, the typical guests had a great chance when Torabi shot wide.

Iran saved the best for last. In the 98th minute after injury time, the ball reached Cesmi, who beat Ward with a beautiful shot from outside the box and opened the scoring in favor of the team of Carlos Queiroz.

The typical guests did not stop there. In the 11th minute of stoppage time, Taremi made a run, “smashed” the ball to Razeyan, who made the score 2-0 in the last phase of the game.
