In a meeting filled with confrontations, praise and threats, there was a “yes” to professional refereeing, but the big question of who would be responsible for its work (EPO or Superleague 1) remained unanswered, leaving many dividing lines active.

Enough was said about the EPO at yesterday’s general assembly, mostly about impressions, and FIFA/UEFA representatives have a constant motto – the right application of holistic research.

Even though Federation President Takis Baltako even raised the issue of removing SL1 by one of its members if he continued to act independently on the matter, the proposal was finally approved that next week there would be a meeting of EPO – SL1 – KED and international judges on how the project will be implemented. AEK and PAOK sided with the EPO, while Olympiacos and Panathinaikos sided with the SL1 organizer.

“Those who play cannot decide who will manage the matches. They will dissipate in two weeks. Professional arbitration should take place under the auspices of the EPO. EPO is the top of the pyramid, not the League. We will invite 7 international referees, Bennett and league representatives so that we can see how this can be implemented,” Mr. Baltakos emphasized, while Panathinaikos representative Manos Mavrokoukoulakis said: “Give the League professional refereeing to keep the shadows because if you stay in arbitration, there will be a backdrop.”

There were also objections to the issue of reducing the EPO withholding rate (from 5% to 1%) from PAE television contracts. It was agreed that the matter would be discussed in a professional football committee and then voted on at an extraordinary general meeting, while also mentioning the disputed roster case. For the approximately 200 clubs that did not join and were excluded from the local leagues, it was decided to schedule a meeting today (4:30 p.m.) with Deputy Sports Minister Lefteris Avgenakis so that the formula can be found and everyone can participate.
