Manuel Neuer spoke about his “battle” with skin cancer. The German goalkeeper said he had three surgeries to deal with it.
The 36-year-old Bayern Munich footballer added that this was one of the reasons he decided to launch a skincare line with three-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber.
“We both have a personal history of skin conditions,” Neuer said. “In the case of Angelica, it is hyperpigmentation associated with the sun. In my case, it is facial cancer, which I operated on three times, ”added the experienced goalkeeper.
He did not say when the operations were carried out. Neuer is recovering from a shoulder injury that has kept him out of action since early October.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper hopes to return to Bayern’s final games ahead of the World Cup. Thus, he hopes to get ahead of the tournament in Qatar, which starts on November 20.
Neuer was a key cog in Germany winning the 2014 trophy. He was, in fact, the best goalkeeper in the tournament.
