Superleague 1: Green Landing in Volos

All eyes are on Panthessalikos and Agia Sophia in Matchday 10 of Super League 1. Tomorrow in Volos, the local team welcomes pioneer Panathinaikos, and a day later in New Philadelphia, the big derby between AEK and PAOK takes place.

With four rounds left in the first round and a break due to the World Cup in Qatar, Panathinaikos’ unbeaten streak is being tested against this year’s league surprise Volos, who has already climbed to 3rd in the standings. The Greens will have to come to terms with the loss of Aitor, but, on the other hand, it will be like a home game, as in the stands of Panthessalikos, in one of the biggest fan movements of all seasons.

Panathinaikos is on the hunt for AEK, who already has five three-pointers in a row and is left with -6 on top. Enos, who comfortably edged out Livadia last Monday, plays his first derby at his new stadium on Sunday, and of course there is no other outcome for Almeida and his players than victory. On the other hand, PAOK, who landed unexpectedly last Sunday in a 2-2 draw with Asteras at Toumba, wants to repeat against Olympiacos and celebrate another away victory in the derby on Athens soil, as happened two years ago in the competition in Karaiskaki.

Olympiacos welcomes Lamia on Sunday and wants to take advantage of the possible losses of Panathinaikos and Union to close their distance from the top positions, while Aris, who played OFI on the same day, will also look to return to positive results in the debut of Valdas Dabrauskas on the Cretan bench.

A strong crash test for Panathinaikos’ trailblazer, Sunday’s AEK-PAOK derby dominates.

The program of the 10th round will open on Saturday in Naples, when the Ionians host Panaitoliko. The hosts stand with their backs to the wall, as they are in last place in the standings, and on the other hand, Agrinio’s team wants to “win back” the home defeat of the previous round from Olympiacos. The decider will also take place in Livadia, where Levadeiakos will face Atromitos, with both teams suffering home defeats to AEK and Volos respectively, with the curtain falling on Zosimades on Monday with PAS Giannina vs Asteras Tripoli.

Schedule: Saturday (29.10): Ionian Sea – Panathinaikos (17.00), Volos – Panathinaikos (19.30). Sunday (30.10): Olympiakos – Lamia (16:00), Levadeakos – Atromitos (16:30), AEK – PAOK (19:30), Aris – OFI (20:30). Monday (31.10): PAS Ioannina – Asteras (18.00).

Tournament table: Panathinaikos 27, AEK 21, Volos 20, Olympiacos 17, PAOK 16, Aris 13, Panaitolikos 11, Atromitos 11, Asteras Trip. 9, Lamia 8, OFI 6, PAS Ioannina 6, Levadeikos 3, Ionikos 3.
