The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) announced on Friday that the RedBull team has been fined $7 million for not meeting the budget limit in 2021.
RedBull was fined 7 million dollars for violating the rules of Formula 1
In addition, the team was reduced by 10% the limit allocated for aerodynamic tests in the wind tunnel and computer simulations.
The FIA did not decide that RedBull should lose points for slightly exceeding (by 1.6%) the budget ceiling. In the end, the team remains with the world championship title, which Max Verstappen won last year.
RedBull is the only team that exceeded the budget ceiling for the 2021 season, which was set at the premiere in Formula 1, which was $145 million.
In the current season, RedBull is mathematically confident of the drivers’ championship, where Max Verstappen is the world champion for the second year in a row. Also, the Austrian team won the constructors’ title for the first time since 2013 (then the team’s pilots were Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber).
Until the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season, three Grands Prix are left: Mexico (October 30), Brazil (November 13) and Abu Dhabi (November 20).
