Panathinaikos were defeated 85–74 by Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel in Game 5 of the Euroleague. This was the fourth defeat of Dejan Radonich’s team in the competition. The Israelis won a fourth victory.

The visitors got on the pitch better and thanks to two 3s in a row from Williams and Panagiotis Kalaitsakis, I took the lead 5-11. The hosts found a reaction (9-11) with Baldwin and took the lead 18-15 thanks to a three-pointer from DiBartolomeo. Papajannis has two points left (18-17) and Sorkin is 20-17 in the first period.

With Brown scoring five in a row, the hosts went 25-19, Panathinaikos responded with a streak and went 25-27 with Ponitka. The difference reached four points (27-31, 30-34) with the Radonich team, but the Israelis again had a 37-36 response with Brown. Williams put the Shamrocks ahead again (37–39) and the hosts took the reins with Nembo (42–39) and 47–42 at half time with Baldwin.

The hosts made it 49-42 early in the third period and then 53-44, with Williams shortening it for the Shamrocks (53-49) with five straight points. With Colson’s 3-pointer and Baldwin’s 2-pointer, Maccabi reached a +10 lead (63-53), with which the third quarter ended (69-59) with two shots from Adams.

With DiBartolomeo and Brown, the hosts went 74-60 early in the last period. Panathinaikos reacted and Lee reduced the score to 76-70 with a three-pointer, but the hosts again brought the difference to double figures and won.
