Audi will team up with Sauber to compete in Formula 1 in 2026. Recently there have been rumors of possible cooperation between the two sides.
The termination of Alfa Romeo’s partnership with Sauber after the end of the 2023 season indirectly confirmed the “marriage” with the German company. Audi announced its entry into motorsport’s “flagships” on the first day of the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.
As announced, Audi will acquire a stake in Sauber Motorsport along the way.
“We are very pleased to have such an experienced and capable partner in our ambitious Formula 1 project. We know the Sauber Group well with its modern facilities from previous joint projects and we are convinced that we can form a strong team.” – said Oliver Hoffmann, member of the board of Audi and head of the F1 program, from the outside.
Finn Rausing, president of Sauber Holding, said: “Audi is the best partner for the Sauber Group. It is clear that both companies share the same values and vision. We look forward to achieving our common goals through a strong and successful partnership.”
