Rafael Varane will not take part in the upcoming matches of Manchester United. Erik ten Haag has confirmed that the French defender will not be available before the World Cup.
This means that he will be racing to be ready to compete in Qatar. The French centre-back injured his hip in Manchester United’s Premier League game against Chelsea on Saturday (22/10) and left the pitch in tears.
Magnetic resonance imaging, which was subjected to a football player, showed that he had a contusion. However, his injury is not as serious as originally thought, leaving hope that he will be ready for the World Cup.
“It will definitely not be before the World Cup,” Ten Haag said at a press conference before the Europa League match with Sheriff Tiraspol. The Dutch coach was optimistic when asked if the player would make it to the World Cup.
“I think so, but we will have to wait for the forecast (doctors), see how he will develop and how his recovery will go,” said Erik ten Haag.
If Varane ends up not being ready for the World Cup, it will be another major problem for Didier Deschamps. N’Golo Kante and second goaltender Mike Manian have both been knocked out so far.
