Duane Bacon appeared to be fully informed and ready to help Panathinaikos upon his arrival in Athens. The American former AS Monaco ace, who signed a closed two-year contract with the Greens, has made no secret of his desire to take the lead in his new team, knowing the rivalry that exists with Olympiacos.
“This club has a lot of heritage. Mike James played here, many great players from the past, many legends. I want to be part of this legacy. I feel like I can really help the team with how I score, how I play defense,” the 27-year-old forward said, adding: “I want to change the rules of the game. I want to make a difference. I enjoy playing against Olympiacos and with my addition I think we can beat them. This is the goal. To win every match. It won’t happen overnight, but if we work hard, we can make a difference. I bring an elite combination of skills. I can score goals, help others, change the game – that’s what I want to do here.”
Bacon jumped right into practice and is expected to make his debut in Sunday’s game against Colossos in OAKA as he doesn’t have time to prepare for tomorrow’s match against Maccabi.
