At 12′ Aitor made a left turn, but Saranov blocked. Panathinaikos controlled the match and in the 23rd minute opened the scoring with Palacios after a beautiful shot by Bernard. Clover continued to dominate the field and missed chances with Aitor and Ioannidis. The hosts had a good moment with Manousos in the 42nd minute, but his shot was unsuccessful.

In the 73rd minute, the shamrock missed a great opportunity: Saranov knocked out Magnusson with a corner header. From a corner Bernard Sanchez made the score 0-2 with a double effort. There was little football in the last part of the match with constant interruptions due to many injuries.
