UTA – CFR Cluj, the match that concludes the 13th stage of the Romanian championship, is scheduled for Monday, October 10, at 20:30 at the Franciscus von Neumann Stadium in Arad and will be broadcast live on Digi Sport 1 , Prima Sport 1 and Orange Sports 1.
UTA have yet to live up to expectations from the summer when they announced their play-off berth and are only 11th in the league with 15 points from 12 matches.
The Ilie Poenaru-coached side are three points behind 6th-placed Craiova University (who also have a backlog away to Chindia Tirgovishte) and missed a great chance in the previous stage when Virgil Postolaki missed a penalty in the match with “Farul Constanta” with a score of 0:1 (in the end, “Arad” conceded with a score of 0:2).
UTA is counting on the support of the public, on the fact that they have shown good results at home (three wins, a draw and a loss), as well as on the team’s top scorer Virgil Postolake, a player of the national team of Moldova, who scored four goals.
CFR Cluj is in high spirits after last Thursday’s win in the UEFA Conference League, 1-0 at Slavia Prague, and in the domestic championship, the Transylvanians come on the back of a run of four consecutive victories without conceding goals: 4-0 against FC Voluntari (a), 2 -0 with Craiova University (a), 1-0 with FC Argeş (d) and 1-0 with Petrolul (a).
Five wins in the last five games have calmed the situation at the club, but Dan Petrescu knows that everything can change after one lost match: “I’m very happy, I did a lot of good things at CFR Cluj, but you know how it is: at the first defeat it looks. I am satisfied with my work and see my work in the future.”
With two arrears (both away to Hermannstadt and FCSB), CFR Cluj were in 4th place before this stage with 21 points from 10 matches, six less than leaders Farul Konstanz (27 points in 12 matches).
In the previous season, in the regular championship of the CFR Cluj, Cluj won on the field of UTA 1:0, and in the return match in Cluj-Napoca, the score was 0:0.
