Serbian scientists have named a new beetle species after Novak Djokovic. The insect was named after Nole because of its speed, strength, agility, and durability.
The new beetle species belongs to the genus Duvalius of the Carabidae family and was named Duvalius Djokovici. The beetle was discovered in western Serbia, and researcher Nikola Vesovic suggested naming it after the Serbian tennis player.
“I proposed naming the new species after Djokovic. He is a man who has done a lot for this country. We feel the need to repay him in any way we can,” Vesovic told Serbian media.
Novak Djokovic has won 21 Grand Slam titles. The Serb is second on the respective list behind Rafa Nadal, who has won 22 major titles.
