
Lyudmila Samsonova won her fourth career title after defeating Qinwen Zheng in the final of the WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo.

Samsonova, who was ranked 30th in the world at the beginning of the competition, defeated the 19-year-old Chinese woman with a score of 7-5, 7-5.
Also at the tournament in Tokyo, Lyudmila defeated Elena Rybakina (22 WTA, Wimbledon champion), Xinya Wang (78 WTA), Garbiñe Muguruza (12 WTA) and Shuai Zhang (28 WTA).

Thanks to the results in Japan, Lyudmila and Qinwen will rise in the world ranking by eight positions each. As of Monday, September 26, the Russian will be ranked 22nd and the Chinese 28th (both players’ best rankings).
