Formula 1: Latifi retires from Williams

Nicholas Latifi is expected to leave Williams at the end of the year. The 27-year-old pilot has been part of the British team for three years now.

Latifi made his Williams debut at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix. He took part in 55 matches and scored a total of 7 points.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Williams Racing – from those who work at the factory to those who I have worked with on the track – over the past three years,” Latifi said.

“My F1 debut was delayed due to the pandemic, but we finally started in Austria. Even though we didn’t achieve the results we hoped for together, it was a fantastic journey. Getting our first points in Hungary last year was a moment I will never forget and I will move on to the next chapter of our career with special memories of my time with this team. I know that no one will stop doing their best until the end of the season, ”commented the 27-year-old pilot.

“On behalf of the entire team, I would like to say a huge thank you to Nicolas for his three years of hard work with Williams. He is a great team player, he has a great attitude towards his colleagues, and everyone respected his work. Our time with him is coming to an end, but I know he will do his best to maximize what we can do together until the season finale. We wish him all the best in and out of the cockpit,” said Jost Capito, Team General Manager.
