David Beckham was among those who waited patiently on Friday to pay their respects to the body of Queen Elizabeth. The monarch has died at the age of 96.
The Englishman, a former footballer, stood in line for 12 hours. He even spoke to Sky News, saying that “this day will be difficult for the nation and the world. It’s special to be here and listen to different people’s stories.”
The former England captain added: “The most special moment for me was when I was knighted. I was with my grandparents who made me a fan of the royal family and of course I was with my wife.”
David Beckham played for more than ten years at Manchester United, with whom he won, among other things, the Champions League and six championships.
He moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 2003 and ended his football career with Paris Saint-Germain in 2013. In 2003 he received the title of knight.
