
David Popovich, who has quickly become one of the biggest names in the world of swimming, turns 18 on Thursday (September 15).

David Popovich had a fantastic 2022, winning 13 medals in the four major events he competed in. 11 of them are gold.
The pupil of coach Adrian Redulescu shocked the world of swimming with a “golden double”, won at the distances of 100 and 200 meters in freestyle at the World Intermediate Championships, the European Youth Championships, the European Middle Ages Championships and the World Youth Championships.
He is also the world record holder in the 100m freestyle.
All performances were created in two and a half months.
On Thursday, David Popovici received a special message from the Romanian Federation of Swimming and Modern Pentathlon.
“He was born in Romania and impressed the whole world. Davyd Popovichi, a true phenomenon of swimming and world sports, is coming of age today, respected by all his opponents and watched with admiration by the entire planet.
A real champion, a sensational athlete and a person of extraordinary quality, David Popovich is celebrating his birthday today.
European and World Junior Champion in the 100m and 200m Freestyle, European and World Adult Champion in the 100m and 200m Freestyle and the Adult World Record Holder in the 100m Freestyle, David turns 18 today .

David Popovici was born in Bucharest and started swimming at the age of four in the “Lia Manoliu” swimming pool on the recommendation of an orthopedic doctor to correct early stages of scoliosis. At the age of 9, he started training at Aqua Team Bucharest with Adrian Redulescu, a former swimmer, sports performance doctor who specializes in swimming, writes News.ro.
He is a student of the Bilingual National College “George Kosbuk” in Bucharest.
CS Dinamo, the club to which the athlete is registered, announced that Popovici will be celebrated at the EGF Champions League match at Sala Polivalentă together with several thousand fans.
