The first surprise of the season came at Rizoupoli where Volos beat AEK 1-0 for a second consecutive away win against Dikefalos. The match took place in the 2nd round of the Superleague and the only goal was scored by Milos Deletic in the 19th minute.

AEK started the game with exactly the same squad as in the premiere, and with a comfortable 3-0 win over Lamia. However, if in Fthiotida he avoided … troubles (see the unrealized penalty kick of the home team), today he had to deal with a difficult situation.

In the 19th minute, Deletich surprised Stankovic with a left foot kick from outside the penalty area and opened the scoring with a fine goal. In fact, the Serb did not celebrate his success in his work in AEK.

From that moment on, the black-and-yellows laid siege to the Volos area and created a very large phase in their first final attempt at the 33rd minute. Zuber was in firing position after Jonsson’s assist, but Kleiman made… an unrealistic save.

With Alhos, Cielis, Tsokanis and Metaxas contributing the maximum deterrent, Voliotes were not seriously threatened in Costa Bratsos’ new debut on the bench.

In the 75th minute, Tsavella headed wide, but in the 78th minute Volos answered with a counterattack and Van Wert’s shot. The guests strengthened their defense even more with the appearance of Pirinen in the last quarter and held on to victory after the last attempts of the home team were unsuccessful and stopped the always well-placed Kleiman.
