
Lyudmila Samsonova won the “WTA 250” tournament in Cleveland on Saturday, defeating seventh seed Oleksandr Sasnovych in the final.
The Russian, who is ranked 45th in the world, won after an hour and 12 minutes of play against the athlete from Belarus with a score of 6-1, 6-3.
During the competition, Lyudmila also beat Iryna Shymanovych (322 WTA), Laura Siegemund (216 WTA), Magda Lynette (67 WTA) and Bernarda Pera (51 WTA).
This is the third WTA title in the career of the Russian woman. At the age of 23, Samsomova also won in Berlin (2021) and Washington (just a week ago).
In the first round of the US Open, Lyudmila Samsonova will meet the Czech Sara Beilek (16 years old, 194 WTA), and Oleksandra Sasnovich – the Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto (100 WTA).
