Apostolos Christou reached the semi-finals in the 100m backstroke at the European Championships held in Rome. Just hours after winning the gold medal in the 50m, the Greek swimmer finished in 53.78 seconds and was second fastest in qualifying behind Thomas Sekon, who clocked 53.71 seconds.

Thodoris Andreopoulos set a personal best with a time of 55.63 seconds and finished in 20th place. Vangelis Makrygiannis finished 25th with a time of 55.77 seconds.

Two Greek swimmers reached the semi-finals in the 200m individual medley at the European Championships in Rome. Andreas Vasios finished in 2:01.03 for the fifth fastest time. Daniil Giurtsidis improved his personal best in 2:01.69 and qualified with the 10th best result. In general, performances in qualifying were average, and the only one who “missed” two minutes was the Portuguese Gabriel José Lopez (1:58.94).

Marilia Drasidou advanced to the semi-finals in the 50m breaststroke. The Greek athlete finished 18th with a score of 31.77 and qualified last thanks to the presence of four Italians in the top 16 (Ariana Castiglioni passed with a score of 29.91 and Benedetta Pilato with a score of 29.93).

Eleni Kontogeorgu completed her first appearance at a major event with a 30th place finish in the 50m. the breaststroke ended in 33.22 seconds.

Christian Golomeev easily reached the afternoon (19:24) semi-finals in the 50m freestyle at the European Swimming Championships in Rome. The Greek champion took first place in his series with a score of 22.06 and qualified with the fifth fastest time.

In the same competition, Odysseas Meladinis placed 33rd with 22.70, Stergios Bylas placed 35th with 22.73 and Christos Papadopoulos placed 48th with 23.05.
