Two Pakistani boxers disappeared without passports just after the end of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, their team spokesman told the local press in Karachi.
These are Suleman Baluj and Nazirul Khan, who did not show up for the meeting to return to their country.
“We later learned that they left the sports village without taking their passports,” Pakistan Boxing Federation secretary Nasir Tang said.
The sports authorities of Pakistan notified the British police of the disappearance of two athletes. Baloch, the seven-time Pakistani champion, lost in the first round to India’s Shiva Thapa, while Khan lost in the last 16 matches to England’s Lewis Williams.
Pakistan has won two gold, three silver and the same number of bronze medals in these 22 Commonwealth Games.
