
Bayern Munich and Canada defender Alphonso Davies announced on Twitter that he will donate all of his winnings from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Davis was born in Ghana to a Liberian family and moved to Canada at the age of five.
Having donated the money, the Canadian says he wants to express his gratitude to those who raised him.
Davis was the first player to become a UN refugee ambassador.

It’s an honor to play for Canada and I want to give something back, so I’ve decided to donate all the money I win at the World Cup in Qatar.” – Alphonso Davis.
Canada will make their World Cup debut on November 23 against Belgium, joining Croatia and Morocco in Group F, Reuters reports.
