Mitsotakis: new NHS is an absolute commitment and a top priority

“We never hid his great difficulties National Health System and my absolute commitment to making the new National Health System the central political priority of the next government, as long as the Greek citizens trust us again,” the president of New Democracy stressed. Kyriakos Mitsotakisvisited in the morning the General Cancer Hospital of Athens “Agios Savvas”.

Mr. Mitsotakis met and discussed with the medical and nursing staff involved in the new program.HOUSE” under the leadership of the responsible physician Michalis Nicolaou for the treatment of cancer patients at home and was informed about the work of the new program.

According to government representatives, the standard treatment program “DOM” provides pharmaceutical support to cancer patients without leaving home, thus contributing to the improvement of their quality of life.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during a meeting with the medical and nursing staff involved in the program, expressed his gratitude “for the very important work that you are doing”, as he said and described “Agios Savvas”.a leading public hospital involved in the fight against cancer.”

“I am especially glad that the DOM program starts with very important and high expectations. In simple words, to explain it, the possibility of assistance, inpatient care, at home. Instead of the patient coming to the hospital, the doctor and nurses go to their homes to carry out anti-cancer treatment. A program funded by the Recovery Fund that will fully be able to serve 80 cases per day,” said Mr. Mitsotakis, adding:

“This continues to be an important cut into the national health system and shows us the path to the public health of the future we want. However, in connection with my visit to Agios Savvas, I want to demonstrate that the National Health System, despite the difficulties, despite the shortcomings, is working. Many times he works at levels enviable both at the European and global level. OUR providing the care that anyone can get here in Agios Savvas, I don’t think he has much to envy from major cancer centers abroad and it is these beacons of excellence in the National Health System that are the pilot for us so that we can have appropriate quality of care within the NHS, no matter where the patient will be“.

And Mr. Mitsotakis ended by congratulating not only the administration, but, above all, hospital staffdoctors, nurses, support staff, technicians, and also for the fact that during the pandemic the hospital was still operating, managing and servicing all the unfinished business, “because of course the cancer treatment can’t wait,” he said.

And Mr. Mitsotakis concluded: “So today we are taking an important step in the desired direction, and hopefully we will be here so that we can always continue to innovate for the benefit of patients, first and foremost, because in their own eyes, we must always understand the experience of communicating with the national health system.”
