Mitsotakis: pragmatism and realism won, populism and lies were defeated

“I am satisfied that not just a pre-election strategy, but a four-year strategy was confirmed at the ballot box. Pragmatism and realism won, while populism and the lies of the past were defeated. Toxicity and polarization were defeated, while decency and serious political discourse won. And those who wanted to divide society were defeated, and those who saw and see Greece as a united and care about the development of every Greek woman and every Greek man won,” the ND President emphasized. Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his greetings to the elected and ND candidates at the party’s headquarters on Piraeus Street.

“I believe we all have taken great satisfaction in the fact that this very great victory has been achieved with results that some of us could not even imagine: with the New Democracy predominating—and by states—in the constituencies of Athens, with the predominance of regions, in the districts, which some considered the “strongholds” of the opposition. In these elections, all of Greece was “painted” blue,” he added.

He noted that in these elections we are voting for the government, not for the opposition. “If someone wants to fight for the “champions” of the opposition, this is a battle that does not concern us, and, ultimately, does not concern the vast majority of citizens,” he said.

He urged everyone to fight until the elections on June 25, noting that the opponent of the ND can be complacency, satisfaction from victory, relaxation.

In addition, Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized that the citizens supported the ND because they not only trusted her administrative abilities during these four years, but also believed that she had a vision for tomorrow’s Greece.

“Our opponents are the problems of citizens. Citizens have difficulties, we recognize them. We want to solve their problems. We haven’t made Greece a paradise in four years. However, we have shown that we have an understanding of the problems and the ability to prove that we can solve these problems,” the ND President said.

Finally, finishing his greeting, he said: “I ask you to strongly insist on our keynote speech. Let’s leave the shadow battles with the opposition, the opposition. Quite a few will fight each other over who will have a “prime minister” in opposition. I insist, this is a battle that does not concern us. We are interested in building on these trusting relationships that we have already built with the citizens and continue on the same path, firmly, boldly, forward, towards a self-sufficient Greece with a self-sufficient New Democracy as the protagonist.”
