During their meeting, the prime minister emphasized that there were no conditions for the formation of a government and therefore announced that will return the order in the afternoon.

In particular, Mr. Mitsotakis said that “yesterday’s elections are a stage of maturity”, he focused on increasing participation in the process, on the fact that Greeks abroad voted for the first time, and also on “the issue of results in record time”, – he said.

The Prime Minister stressed that “no need to form a government“, but this is with another enhanced analogue system and taking into account yesterday’s result” N.D. will have a strong majority.” Kyriakos Mitsotakis noted that he would do his part “so that we overcome the hurdle of mere proportionality” and said he intended to return the investigative order this afternoon to expedite appeal procedures for new elections, possibly June 25, as he said.

“The sooner this unresolved case is closed, the better it will be for discussing the real problems of Greek society,” the Prime Minister stressed.

The President of the Republic said, welcoming Mr. Mitsotakis at the Presidential Palace, that the Speaker of Parliament had recently presented her with the official election results and that she had phoned the Prime Minister to give him the first tentative mandate to form a government.

It is recalled that according to Article 37 of the Constitution, if the first party does not have an “absolute majority of seats” from the election, the President grants the leader of the party a corresponding majority – that is, Mrs Mitsotakis– a preliminary order, as it turned out, to determine the possibility of forming a government that enjoys the confidence of parliament.

After the expected return of the mandate from Mr. Mitsotakis in the afternoon to the leader of the second largest parliamentary party (in Al. Tsipras), and if that doesn’t work, the President of the Republic issues a preliminary order to the leader of the third party in parliamentary power (i.e. N. Androulakis).
