Elections: “veterans” in the battle of the cross

New faces, both in terms of age and in terms of their zero relation to the traditional Greek political scene, are now included, perhaps with more emphasis than in the past, on the ballots of all formations due to ballot box another Sunday. This is a compilation party cadresthrough which an attempt is made to “break”, especially in recent years, the disdain for the democratic state, formed in a tired body voters that “everyone is the same” and “nothing changes”.

The truth of the figures, however, shows that the political composition from 1974 to the present is periodically updated and indeed sometimes more than 38%. The most spectacular was 2012, when half of the national delegation was replaced, as 148 deputies were elected for the first time, 2015 with 120 new faces and the previous ones with 114 newcomers, as can be seen from the statistics parliament.

In the waves of changes in the composition of the national delegation, which, as can be seen from the three above-mentioned cases, resembled a tsunami in which, in addition to parliamentarians, parties (such as LAOS, DIMAR, Potami) “disappeared”, there are, however, some individuals who have shown great resilience, and if they manage to win on May 21 in a heavy battle of the cross, then the next day they will rightfully acquire the title of “veteran” of the political scene. These are parliamentarians of all factions, and most of them, of course, come from N.D., PASOK who became a “blood donor” of other parties and KKEwhich are also political parties with the longest presence in the post-colonial parliament.Elections:

“ancient”

If he is re-elected, the Blues Io Tragakis will be in the next composition of the national delegation “the oldest” of all, as he was elected in the first elections after the dictatorship, in 1974. They are followed Ant. Saddlerwho now, as a former prime minister, does not need a cross and for the first time – and for many years – a deputy from PASOK St. Jumakasif he is elected now with SYRIZA. Both were first elected in the November 1977 elections.

In the previous elections, for the first time, deputies from all parties scored 114 people.

The next duo with the most years in parliament is a former prime minister. G. Papandreou and one of the historical leaders of PASOK H. Castanidisentered parliament in 1981. Until the end of the 80s and specifically in the 1989 elections. Dora Bakoyannis And K. Skandalidis, At. Pafilis and Io Dragasakis (the last two then with the united Coalition).

Class… 90s

For the “newcomers” of the 90s, we will mention them as examples Nick. Kaklamanis and P. Kurumpli (then with PASOK, now with SYRIZA). In the next decade, among others, the prime minister Mrs. Mitsotakis, Sophia Sakoraffa (starting with PASOK, now in MeRA25), G. Vlahos, Liana Canelli, Andr. Loverdos, At. Buras, N. Dendias, Olga Kefalogianni, Marilisa Xenogannakopoulou (then PASOK, now SYRIZA) and also (then with LAOS) Mr. Velopoulos, M. Voridis and At. Pleuris.

For the first time as a member of parliament, not in elections, but as the first candidate, he became a member of the KKE in 2008. I. Giokas who replaced him dec. humpbacked. A year ago, in the 2007 elections, he was elected for the first time Thodoris Dritsas for SYRIZA.

Prime Minister in the period 2015-2019 Alexis Tsipras was first elected in 2009. Three years later, in the 2012 elections, for the first time such officials as Ev. Tsakalotos, Olga Gerovasili, Andr. Blonde, Har. Athanasiou and Emme Sintihakis.

Finally, in the 2015 elections, the two current leaders D.Mr. Koutsoubas and G. Varoufakisand also (with River) “blue” now Char. Theoharis.
