Mitsotakis: Political adventurism almost destroyed what we built for decades

“Almost 2 years ago, we also celebrated the 40th anniversary of Greece’s accession to the European community, our most important choice in our post-political history,” the press service stressed. Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the podium at the ND Europe Day event.

“Political adventurism almost destroyed in a few weeks what we had been building for decades in 2015. The slogan “I don’t forget” is also present here,” he continued. Mr. Mitsotakis pointed to the benefits of our joining the European family. “I would like to note the ND’s firm commitment to Europe beyond party lines,” he stressed.

As the prime minister said to applause, “Greece is no longer in 2015, nor in 2012, nor in 2010, when the wrong prescriptions were imposed on us.”

“We are no longer going to accept such prescriptions and no one will be able to point fingers at us for allegedly not following European directives when we are doing much better than many European countries,” said Mr Mitsotakis. He pointed to the Recovery Fund as a useful tool in this direction.

The prime minister gave an overview of the government’s actions in recent years, citing pandemic management, immigration, international alliances and the economy, stressing that Greece has a better financial record than many economically stronger European countries.

“I have also been to Brussels. I traded for 5 hours and took out the champs for 31 billion and placed a limit on natural gas. Some hesitated, we insisted, argued, and our proposal became a European solution,” he added.
