Yoav Gallant in Athens: strong bilateral relations between Greece and Israel

Israel Defense Minister, Joab Gallantmakes official visits to Greece and Cyprus, starting from Athens, where he was found today.

Today the Israeli minister met with his Greek counterpart Nikos Panagiotopoulos at the Defense Ministry.

“We had a great discussion on defense, information sharing and industrial cooperation,” Mr. Gallant noted in a Twitter post, calling Mr. Panagiotopoulos “my friend” and also highlighting the security benefits of Greece and Cyprus, as well as for the economies of the two countries.

Gentlemen Panagiotopoulos and Gallant had contacts, after which they made statements to the press.

In his speech, the Israeli Defense Minister stressed the strength of bilateral ties between Greece and Israel. He also talked about the Iranian aggression and the progress made by Tehran in the nuclear program.

“Cooperation in intelligence sharing between Israel and Greece gained public attention last month with the arrest of two terrorists sent by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to attack Israeli installations in Greece. This is not the only attack that has been prevented. In fact, Iran has launched a global terrorist campaign on the direct orders of its leader,” Mr. Galland said, adding that “for the past six months, Iran has been sending planes to Syria on a weekly basis, delivering weapons that will be used by the terrorists.”

“The Syrian regime must know that the Israeli military will respond decisively to any attacks launched from its territory. We will not allow Iran to establish military power in Syria or build a pipeline to deliver advanced weapons to Lebanon,” the Israeli Defense Ministry stressed, while warning that Tehran is making progress in its nuclear program, moving closer to acquiring not one, but many nuclear bombs. .
